FLOW Session: Progress, Creativity & CommunityA message from Christina McGrath, Founder of FLOW88
Our third FLOW88 Flow Session on 30 August at Matakana Pump Track was another incredible reminder of why we started FLOW88 in the first place.
Yes, there was rain. But there was also so much enthusiasm, commitment, encouragement and connection.
The real highlight for me wasn’t simply seeing kids skate - it was seeing how much they have progressed by continuing to show up.
Some of the kids who started out struggling to make it around the track are now skating it freely and confidently. Watching that journey unfold is something very special. It represents commitment to themselves, commitment to skating and the confidence that comes from simply keeping going.
There were skating trains, a 20-minute expression session, FLOW88 stickers, plenty of cheering and, most importantly, kids encouraging each other and celebrating each other’s progress.

Nico was committed all session - biking, scootering and skating - and completed the most consecutive laps on his skateboard. By the end, his legs were, in his words, “jello!”

I was particularly proud to see the progression across the whole session, from kids who had hardly been skating at all to now confidently making their way around the track.
That is a massive achievement.
It’s not about being the best skater. It’s about having a go, committing to yourself, finding your flow and coming back to do it again.
A huge congratulations to all of the kids who came along and, especially, to those who continue to show up and put in the work. We see you, and we are incredibly proud of you.

14 June FLOW88 Flow Session: A Community on WheelsWhat an incredible day! Our very first FLOW88 Flow Session brought together over 100 people for an afternoon of skating, scootering and biking at the Matakana Pump Track.
With riders of all ages and abilities rolling through the track, the atmosphere was all about encouraging creativity, building confidence, and having fun together as a community.
Skate CompetitionOur skate competition welcomed 14 skaters, with judging based on Flow, Style and Creative Line. It wasn't just about landing tricks. It was about creativity, confidence and expressing your own unique style.

FLOW88 COMMUNITY EVENTSAT 26 APRIL | RIDE & ART
MATAKANA PUMP TRACK
Our FLOW88 Ride & Art community event brought together an incredible turnout of locals at the Matakana Pump Track for a day built around movement, creativity, and connection.
Riders of all ages showed up to skate, scooter, and bike the track, with the focus less on competition and more on simply getting outside, trying new things, and enjoying the flow of the space together.
Alongside the riding, our art activation invited the community to contribute through chalk and creative expression, turning the pump track into a shared canvas inspired by movement, style, and skate culture.
It was one of those days where everything just came together naturally. Families stayed, kids rode for hours, new friendships formed, and the whole space carried a real sense of community energy from start to finish.
A huge thank you to everyone who came down and made the day what it was, and to the Matakana community for continuing to show up and support FLOW88 as it grows.
